Just a quick note to see if anyone gets this: I am excited about working on new music and visual art this year. There are two new records in progress. One with organist Wil Blades that I will be mixing soon. The other day just wrapped up part 1 of Wicked Knee music. We need to get back in the studio in a few weeks and finish recording all the new material. And the new visual art ranges from large canvas and wood panel paintings- some with silk screen prints… to editing some 16mm films into short experimental video with new music and sounds.

I am also teaching out of my backyard studio here in New Jersey. Got the ChrisWood burning stove stoked!

“Looks like we won a ‘Silver Medal for Excellence in a Music Documentary for the film Life on Drums - Composer Billy Martin / Director Billy Martin’ at the Park City Film Music Festival. We’re not sure what this means and don’t think we are getting an actual medal but it feels good to be in this long list of “winners”. Congrats to Matt McClain Director of Photography and Allen Herman executive producer along with everyone involved with the film.”

Now offering 1/2 hour rhythm "tune-up" private lessons

This is for drummers, your bandmates and any instrumentalists interested in strengthening their rhythmic ability.
I am now starting a new private lesson program which will consist of one-on-one rhythm “tune-ups”. This is for anyone who wants a deeper rhythmic connection in regards to performance and composition. Drum students generally work with hand percussion I.E. claves, bells, woodblocks, talking drums etc… other instrumentalists may use their own instruments. Please email riddim@billymartin.net for any questions. Lessons will be one half hour and less than half cost of a regular private lesson with me. Tell your band mates, come over and I’ll tune you up!

General hours are 9am-3pm
